The
Department of Visual Arts is designed to meet the needs of the "whole
artist" and, although students are allowed the opportunity to major in
a particular medium, every student is exposed to the entire spectrum of visual
expression. Coursework includes Drawing, Watercolor, Landscape Painting, Figure
Drawing, Photography, 2-D and 3-D Design, Sculpture, Computer Graphics, and
Animation. College portfolio preparation is strongly emphasized and students
have the opportunity to have their work critiqued by professional artists
and university educators on a regular basis. Visual arts students participate
in both informal and formal gallery exhibitions each year, including at least
one showing at a prestigious venue, gallery or museum in Southern California.
